New Delhi
For Delhiites there will be more than just Kajol and Aamir Khan to look forward to in Kunal Kohli's new film "Fanah". With the city's `stars' featuring in a big way in the movie, those who have missed a guided trip around the monuments in the Capital will now get a chance to learn history from Bollywood's best, Aamir. Taking people on a Delhi `darshan', quite literally, the film has Aamir Khan playing the part of a guide. While Farhan Akhtar's "Lakshya" had already used the lover's haunt -- Lodi Garden -- for his romantic number, the Red Fort and even the Qutub Minar are making their comeback into big Hindi film credit rolls after some time. Bringing Kajol to the big screen after a long time to weave her magic, "Fanah" will cast Aamir and her together for the first time. From the tallest minar in the city, Qutub Minar, to the rather neglected Jantar Mantar, there will more than just the regular haunts of the city on celluloid for once. "The crew has also asked for permission to shoot at the Red Fort, Afsarwala Tomb and Isa Khan's Tomb. We have granted them permission to shoot, it is not the first time that these monuments are being used in films. The crew started shooting from the November 8. The monuments have not been shut for the public." said an official from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). And since the ASI is entitled to a copy of the script before permission is given, these monuments are in the story for a reason and will not only be in the background. "Aamir Khan is a guide in the film and he takes around a group from Kashmir that has come to Delhi to perform for Republic Day and that is why he taking them around these sites," an official stated. -- Mandira Nayar
