MANGALORE: Viani D'Cunha of Mangalore and Shimoga's Neha Patkar triumphed in the U.V. Acharya Memorial State-level under-12 chess tournament, organised by Rotary Club, Siddapur-Hosangadi in association with Chess Association Dakshina Kannada, at Siddapur near here on Monday.

While Viani beat Girish Koushik of Mysore in a tie-breaker to clinch the boys' title, Neha scored against her sister Nisha to bag the top honours among girls.

In the Udupi district level open event, favourite Vikram Saralaya expectedly bagged the title with a full six points. — Staff Reporter
