MUSSOORIE: Hundreds of visitors coming to Mussoorie are rushing to the outskirts of Tehri to have a last glimpse of the town that is getting submerged as the reservoir of the Tehri Dam. Local taxi operators and guides are offering special tours to have a last glimpse of the valley that was once the Capital of Tehri Garhwal kingdom. "We are happy to see that many tourists from as far as Chennai prefer to have a look at the making of the dam and pay us handsomely," said Sanjay Negi, a young entrepreneur who wants to make a fast buck as the Bhagirathi waters take over what was once a sleepy town catering to the domestic and commercial needs of the region. The visit is not all fun for those who have had links with the old city. "The coming generations will never be able to see the temples, Purana Durbar or schools, houses and markets that were housed there till recently," said an upset Laxmi Nautiyal, one of the oustees now settled in Bhaniawala near Dehra Dun.
