NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Monday issued a notice to the Uttar Pradesh Government on a bail application of Vikas Yadav, son of the former Rajya Sabha Member D.P. Yadav, in the Nitish Katara murder case. Justice S.K. Aggarwal directed the State Government to file a reply to the bail application by January 9. In the meanwhile, another Bench of the High Court directed that only the Uttar Pradesh police could prosecute the accused persons in the case. Justice R.C. Jain directed the Delhi Government's Standing Counsel to appear in the case on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh police till December 9, when the matter would be taken up for further hearing. Mr. Justice Jain issued the direction on a writ petition by Vikas Yadav who through his counsel submitted that it is the Uttar Pradesh police, which are empowered to prosecute him client as the cause of action had taken place in that State.
