CHENNAI: The `Star Kid Talent Search,' organised by Tata AIG Life Insurance, ended on Monday with Arun Benty Caleb David, V. Tarun and Priyank walking away with cheques for Rs. 50,000 each.

The search that reached out to over 4 lakh children in 12 cities was described as an attempt to spot talent early.

A hundred children, aged four to nine, short-listed in each city, competed in three categories. Scholarships worth Rs. 18 lakhs were given to 36 `StarKids' across the country. Revathy, a singer and teacher, Meenakshi Seth, artist, and Gowri, television artist of `Manaivi' fame, were the judges for the Chennai `Talent Search'. The youngest children were asked to construct a structure with Lego blocks. Students of first and second standards had an elocution competition and those from third and fourth were tested on their ability to visualise and think `out of the box' in a drawing competition. The method of evaluation was developed by a panel of child psychologists and academicians in association with Tata AIG Life.
