Special Correspondent

Says comments put actors association in "piquant situation"

CHENNAI: Actress Suhasini Maniratnam has expressed regret for her November 9 remarks, which she said had put the South Indian Actors Association in a "piquant situation."

In her reply to a show-cause notice issued by the Association, Ms. Suhasini said the Association or any film artiste should not be adversely affected by her remarks. She sent the letter from Hyderabad.

Ms. Suhasini said Tamil Nadu and Tamils should not face any difficulty on account of her opinion. An Association release, signed by its president Vijayakanth and general secretary R. Sarathkumar, said it would consider Ms. Suhasini's letter. It urged members to ensure their interviews or public speeches did not disturb anybody's feelings or create any problems.
