Volunteers for Haj selected

HYDERABAD:
Volunteers (khuddam ul hujjaj) who are to accompany and guide Haj pilgrims to the Mecca, were selected from Government employees belonging to the Muslim community in the State through draw of lots at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
Minorities Welfare Minister Mohd Fareeduddin, picked the first name -- Shaikh Basheer Ahmed -- of Anandapet in Guntur. City Police Commissioner A. K. Mohanty, who is the chief executive officer of the State Haj Committee, Additional Commissioner (Traffic) A. K. Khan, and State Haj Committee chairman Mohd. Ghouse Mohiuddin, and a few journalists present, picked the names of 17 others.
Three more volunteers will be selected by the Haj Committee/Wakf Board.
Mr. Fareeduddin said that 6,385 persons are undertaking Haj pilgrimage this year from the State. The Haj flights would start from December 3 to Madina Munawwara.
