HYDERABAD: A Division Bench of the High Court on Tuesday directed the Kukatpally police to produce two persons before the court immediately. The Bench, comprising Justice T. Meenakumari and Justice K.C. Bhanu, was dealing with a writ petition. A telegram sent by Basava Raj complaining that his son has been taken away on November 7 and is not traceable till this date has been treated as writ petition. In the telegram he said that his son Sivaramprasad is in danger at the hands of the police. The Bench directed the police to produce both father and son.
Sports quota
In another case, Justice L. Narasimha Reddy said that the persons selected under sports quota cannot be permitted to submit the certificates at a latter point of time and directed re-allotment of a medical seat in this regard. The Judge was dealing with a batch of writ petitions complaining that the procedure adopted by the authorities while filling up the sports quota seats in medical counselling is illegal. The Judge was not inclined to pass general order setting aside all the allotments but made a specific direction regarding allotment of seat to Harshita. One Ramya Suhasini who was selected did not produce the certificate in time at the time of selection and the authorities permitted her to submit the certificates after several days. The Judge said that the seat must be given to Harshita and in turn Ramya Suhasini will get the seat in BDSC. Justice Reddy also issued notices in a writ petition filed challenging the present composition of the Andhra Pradesh Medical Council on ad hoc basis. Rama Reddy, filed writ petition saying that he has been elected in the elections held in 1997 and election results were gazetted in 1999. He told that the State Medical Council, which is vested with vast powers, has not been constituted though elections were over eight years back. He said that the present team is continuing to hold the position on ad hoc basis.
