SKS Microfinance wins excellence award

HYDERABAD:
SKS Microfinance, which recently shot into prominence for hosting Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, has won the Grameen Foundation USA's Excellence award.
The award was presented by Julie Stahl Peachey, Regional Director, Asia Programme of the Foundation, to self-help group members — Amrutha, Pushpamma and Swarna — in the presence of Vikram Akula, founder and CEO of SKS, at function here on Tuesday.
Ms. Peachey said SKS was selected from a large number of microfinance organisations across the world for its overall achievement in outreach to the poor, financial performance, transparency and technological innovations.
