Map mela on November 19

GIS, GPS technologies to be on display


  • The event will have panel discussions, lectures and demonstrations
  • There will be presentations on tsunami, earthquakes

    HYDERABAD: GIS India, in association with Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI), is organising a one-day `Digital India and map mela' at the Institution of Engineers, Khairatabad, on November 19.

    The event will have panel discussions by experts in the subject and lectures apart from display, demonstrations and presentations, G.S. Kumar, vice-chairman of the organising committee, told reporters on Tuesday.

    Among others, the discussions will have R.S. Madame, N. Dhal, Raghav Swamy, Narasimha Raju, Peter Schmitz, I.V. Murali Krishna and former director of the National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA) D.P. Rao on the panel. The meet will also deliberate on the advances in Geomatics, Mr. Kumar said.

    The `Map mela' would have displays on latest products and actual applications of GIS, GPS and Spatial Technologies. "The exhibits will be of great interest to students, professionals, academia and even the general public," Mr. Kumar said. On-the-spot Geo Map quiz with prizes would be held and a variety of maps would also be showcased.
