HYDERABAD:
A 17-year-old girl Jyothi, who consumed sleeping pills along with her close friend Babita, died on Tuesday. Babita died four days ago while undergoing treatment. "Exact reasons behind their death are yet to be ascertained but it was a suicide pact," Jubilee Hills Inspector Sridharacharyulu said. Residents of Borabanda, the two victims were bosom friends. "Living in adjacent houses, they were so close that strangers would take them for siblings," the Inspector said. Parents of both the girls were labourers. Recently, Jyothi's parents reportedly chided her for moving around with a youth of the same locality. Jyothi slipped into depression and decided to end life. "We're not sure if she told about her decision to Babita. But the two were found lying unconscious with hand-in hand at a secluded place in Borabanda on the night of November 10," the police said. In her statement before the police, Babita said she and Jyothi consumed 20 sleeping pills on that night.
