Coffee Board Layout residents protest against bad roads

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The residents of Coffee Board Layout and Kempapura on Tuesday staged a dharna protesting the appalling condition of the Kempapura Road and the apathy of the authorities concerned to repair the same.

The layout, approved by Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), is in Ward 18 of the Byatarayanapura City Municipal Council (CMC).

Over 500 residents staged the dharna under the banner of Coffee Board Layout Residents and Site Owners Association, led by its president P. Madhav Rao Bhonsale and secretary Hari Kannaiah.

Mr. Bhonsale told The Hindu that despite several representations, the CMC has not repaired the road. The roads were so bad that the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has written to the association stating that it is considering withdrawing the bus service to the area.

Meanwhile, CMC Commissioner C.K. Dashwanth, assured the residents that repair work will be started from Wednesday.
