New principal for UVCE

N. Govindaraj, senior most professor of the University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) has been appointed principal of the college in place of S.N. Kiran Shankar, who retires this month-end. The Bangalore University Syndicate on Tuesday resolved to compulsorily retire S.M. Honnappa working as assistant director of correspondence courses. This is in the wake of an inquiry report against him, holding him guilty of irresponsibility, negligence and dereliction of duty.

Job-oriented training

Pulsetone Industries will conduct a two-week full time intensive job-oriented training programme from December 5 in mobile phone software and hardware repairs and landline telephones. Outstation candidates will be provided free hostel accommodation and deserving candidates will be given free textbooks and tool kits. Epilepsy Day

Photo contest

Rajajinagar Kannada Rajyotsava Samiti will conduct a photography contest on "Parks of Rajajinagar" and "Beautiful Rajajinagar" for amateur photographers. Four pictures on each of the two themes can be submitted for the contest, which is conducted as part of the Rajajinagar Habba - 2005. The last date for submitting the pictures is November 19.
