APIIC holds consultation with potential buyers of land

  • Requisition notice given for acquiring land
  • Ginning, spinning units will be promoted in a big way
  • Textile park planned between Nizampatnam, Chirala

GUNTUR: The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation on Tuesday held consultation with potential buyers of space in the proposed Textile Park in 1,400 acres of land between Guntur and Chilakaluripet.

A requisition notice had been given for acquiring land for the purpose, APIIC Chairman Ambati Rambabu told mediapersons after the consultation here. The State Government proposed to bring two textile parks in Guntur district for utilising the entire quantum of cotton produced in the district.

As part of its policy decision to promote agro industries, ginning, spinning and processing units would be promoted in the State to utilise the entire 35 lakh bales of cotton produced in Andhra Pradesh, he said. For this the State Government proposes to set up one Textile Park in between Nizampatnam and Chirala on the sea coast so that the toxic effluents could be dumped in the sea after treatment.

An effluent treatment plant (common facility) would be built in the park by the APIIC with the partnership of those setting up units there for cost sharing, said Mr. Rambabu. At the park near Chilakaluripet it would house only ginning, spinning and finishing products that do not require release of effluents.

    Site identified

The APIIC had identified a 50-acre site close to Guntur to set up a Chilly Food Park that would have units dedicated to extraction of oil from chillies, processing chillies for other purposes and value addition for ready-to-eat foods.

Meanwhile, the APIIC was also setting up Autonagars in four new areas. Land acquisition process had started.
