Panel alleges misuse of State Employees' Welfare Fund
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD:
The Action Committee of Employees and Workers (ACEW) and the Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation have demanded recovery of Rs. 97 lakhs from the State Employees' Welfare Fund allegedly misused by six service associations for building assets.
ACEW chairman G. Pattabhi Ramaiah, APTF president K. Venugopal and general secretary N.V. Raghavaiah, have already submitted a representation to the chief secretary and chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Employees Welfare Fund on Monday evening for the necessary action.
Membership must
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Mr. Pattabhi Ramaiah and Venugopal said that the fund to be administered by a State committee was created through GO No.173 in 1980. The membership is compulsory to all employees of Government, local bodies, work charged and contingent and employees of aided institutions.
Their contention was that six service associations - APNGOs Association, Telangana NGOs union, Junior Forest Officers Associations, Panchayat Raj Teachers Union, State Teachers Union and Government Vehicle Drivers Association, availed funds for construction of rest houses, kalyana mandapams, furniture in the name of association, against the welfare fund rules.
