Paid holiday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Government on Tuesday ordered that the voters of Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency who were employed elsewhere be given a paid holiday on November 18 to enable them to exercise their franchise. The Government order is applicable to all employees, including casual hands of industrial units and Government employees. — Special Correspondent

Dharna held

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Activists of the LDF held a dharna in front of the Balaramapuram police station on Tuesday evening in protest against the roughing up of a person in a LDF campaign vehicle. The police said the incident took place when the LDF campaign vehicle, making announcements, passed a UDF election meeting being held near RC church at Balaramapuram. The LDF activist has been hospitalised with injuries, the police added. — Staff Reporter

Student killed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: R.S. Ratheesh, 17, a student of Punnammoodu Higher Secondary School, was killed when the bus he was travelling in hit another bus at the Arikkada junction in the Nemom police station limits on Tuesday evening. His body has been kept in the mortuary of Medical College Hospital. — Staff Reporter

Ganja seized

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thumba police have arrested a 40-year-old woman in connection with the seizure of 15 gm of ganja from her house at Mukkolakkal, near Kulathur. — Staff Reporter
