Two boys killed in accident

NEW DELHI: Two boys were killed and one was injured after they were knocked down by a train at Nangloi in West Delhi on Tuesday. The injured was admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. when the three children, in a bid to catch pigeons, were crossing the railway tracks near a crossing at Nangloi. Before they could reach the other side, a train hit them. The injured were rushed to hospital where Akash (14) and another boy, whose identity is yet to be established, were declared dead on arrival. The third boy, identified as Shiva (12), was stated to be in a serious condition and his leg was amputated. The police have initiated a probe into the matter.

UPA Govt. thanked

NEW DELHI: The All India Congress Committee secretary and Member of Delhi Legislative Assembly, Jai Kishan, has expressed gratitude to the United Progress Alliance government for respecting the sentiments and feelings of the Dalit community by honouring former President, K.R. Narayanan, by creating his Samadhi adjacent to that of former President Zail Singh.

In a statement, the Congress MLA said Narayanan had always struggled for the protection of the socio-political and economic interests of Dalit community. Stating that the national honour bestowed on Mr. Narayanan would enhance the respect and trust of the Dalit community towards the UPA Government, Mr Jai Kishan said the move was definitely in the right direction.

Woman's body found

NEW DELHI: The body of a woman was found at Ambedkar Nagar in South Delhi on Tuesday.

The police said they were trying to establish the identity of the woman. The body would be preserved for few days, after which post-mortem would be conducted to find the exact cause of death of the woman and whether she had been assaulted before being murdered.
