KANNUR: The latest recognition to come 10-year-old Aishwarya Ganesh's way is the first prize in the State-level painting competition for children conducted by NTPC Limited at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on November 14. Over the past seven years, this young artist has won scores of prizes and awards. A Class V student of Ursuline Senior Secondary School, Kannur, Aishwarya is a prolific painter who chooses to paint on people, landscape and animals. Energy conservation is her latest interest and it won her the State-level prize. `Save Electricity' was the theme of the competition. Minister for Tourism K.C. Venugopal presented a certificate and cash award of Rs.10,000 to Aishwarya at a function the same day. Aishwarya has been selected to participate in the national-level competition for children being organised by NTPC Limited in New Delhi on December 11. It is not for the first time that Aishwarya has got the opportunity to participate in a national-level competition. Her painting `Children with kites' won her the second prize in a national contest conducted by the Council for Child Welfare in 2002. She was the first prize winner in the State-level competition held by the council. Daughter of N.C. Ganesh and Shaheera of Thala Bhavan here, Aishwarya has so far won 43 gold medals and 283 prizes at various district and State-level competitions. She won her first prize at a district-level painting competition at Thalassery when she was only three years old.
