Letters to the Editor
Salman Rushdie's appealing article, `An earthquake tests Kashmir, and the world,' (Nov. 15) should melt the hearts of the peoples of the world, especially in India and Pakistan. The victims of the quake on both sides of the Line of Control just a half a century ago belonged to the same country. As pointed out, there is no time to lose; immediate relief is the paramount need; otherwise hundreds of thousands of precious lives will meet their snowy graves this winter. This is a golden opportunity for India to provide relief and win their hearts so that permanent peace can prevail in the whole of Kashmir.
