Welcome proposal

The proposed transition to an integrated goods and services tax (GST) in place of indirect taxes will be welcomed by industry. The new tax will absorb all indirect taxation at all levels, providing a level-playing field for domestic producers vis-à-vis imports. However, this is possible only if there is political will, and commitment to the cause.
