NEW DELHI: Security agencies conducted a massive combing operation in all Bangalore-bound flights at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport here on Wednesday evening after the Police Control Room (PCR) received a call claiming that a bomb was going to explode in one of the planes. However, the call was declared hoax after no explosives were found. Around 7-45 p.m., the PCR received a call claiming that a bomb had been planted in a Bangalore-bound flight. As the anonymous caller did not specify the flight number, the airport authorities and security agencies were left with no other option but to search all flights bound for Bangalore, including Air Sahara, Air Deccan and Indian Airlines. The operation was called off after an hour-long futile search. The hoax call was traced to a mobile phone, which was later found switched off. The airport police have registered a case and launched a hunt for the miscreant. Already, all major airports across the country are on high alert in view of intelligence inputs of a possible hijack or suicide-bombing attempt.
