NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday summoned in person the Secretary and the Commissioner (Planning) of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in connection with the Cooperative Group Housing Society scam case. A Division Bench comprising Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Rekha Sharma asked the two officials to be present in the Court on December 15 with the minutes of the meeting where the decision to allot land to 135 revived Societies was taken on December 5. Earlier, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) submitted a status report to the Court on the progress of investigation into the scam. In the report, the investigating agency told the Court that of the 135 Societies it was asked to investigate by the High Court, 22 were found genuine, 24 were found to have committed criminal misconduct, 14 were found fake but no criminal offences were found to have been committed by them, FRIs were to be registered against 71 and 4 were under investigation. The Bench directed the investigating agency to pursue the investigation of the case expeditiously and file another status report regarding the progress of the probe on the next date of hearing. The High Court had in August this year ordered the investigating agency to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by a Deputy Inspector-General to investigate the scam. The Bench has since been monitoring the probe.
