`Scrutinise Sivakumar's poll expenses'

Thiruvananthapuram: The Democratic Indira Congress-Karunakaran (DIC-K), on Wednesday, petitioned the Election Commission, seeking a detailed examination of the election expenditure of the United Democratic Front candidate in the Lok Sabha byelection, V.S. Sivakumar.

DIC(K) State president K. Muraleedharan, in his petition, alleged that Mr. Sivakumar had violated the election expenditure norms, which imposed a ceiling of Rs. 25 lakhs. Expensive posters, boards, and advertisements indicated that crores of rupees had been spent, he added.
