Don't ignore warning

The stunning naxalite attack on the Jehanabad jail is no doubt a failure of the administration. However, it will be wrong to treat it purely as a law and order problem. It is the people becoming restive about their "long neglected problems" as pointed out in the editorial (Nov. 16). The under-current of dissatisfaction has also been well catalogued in the article, `Warning signals from Jehanabad' (Nov. 17). Democracy will imperil itself if such warnings are ignored.

K.M. Sundaram,
Chennai
