Letters to the Editor
This refers to the news report, `Get tough with unauthorised occupants: Supreme Court,' (Nov. 17). It is a source of relief to the common man that the apex court is sternly dealing with the Government's failings in different areas. Its proactive and uncompromising stance regarding unauthorised occupancy is commendable. An independent judiciary is the biggest boon for democracy and the greatest hope for safeguarding public interest.
Priya Mathur,
* * * The Supreme Court Bench's observation to the Solicitor-General that "what is applicable to Class IV employees equally applied to them [VVIPs who are unauthorised occupants of Government Bungalows]," is timely. It has to be applied strictly in all cases.
A.S. Adikesavan,
* * * It is sad that the Centre has to file an affidavit to evacuate the unauthorised VVIP occupants from government-owned bungalows. It will do a world of good if the VVIPs concerned vacate the premises at once.
K. Balaji,
