Ministry asked to set up wage board for newspaper employees

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Union Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry has written to the Labour Ministry asking it to set up a new wage board for newspaper and news agency employees. This was disclosed here on Wednesday by Information and Broadcasting Minister S. Jaipal Reddy while responding to a question at the ongoing Economic Editors' Conference.

Labour Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had assured newspaper/news agency employee unions twice over the past year that a new wage board would be set up. The last wage revision for these employees was done in the late 1990s.
