Ramanathapuram : Collector K. Sellamuthu has appealed to the people and relatives of patients, who need blood, to donate their blood in order to save lives in crucial hours. Inaugurating a blood donation camp held at Paramakudi near here on Wednesday organised by Sri Meenakshi Education and Development Trust, he said that though the number of people, who wanted to donate blood, had improved marginally, more number of people should come forward to help the patients. Mr. Sellamuthu said that so far during the current year 760 people had donated blood including 560 self-interested volunteers. Blood donated by volunteers had been given to the inpatients of Government Hospitals free of cost. While appreciating blood donors, he said that more than 2,500 people had donated blood during the past four years. Volunteers were ready to donate blood in the event of any accident or necessary. The Collector also distributed certificates to blood donors. Sri Meenakshi Education and Development Trust's president Sundarrajan, Paramakudi MLA, R. Ramprabu and others participated.
