Indian team arrives

Principal Correspondent

Bangalore: The Indian team arrived in the city on Thursday morning and preferred to cool their heels in their hotel rooms though the trio of Mohammed Kaif, R.P. Singh and Sreesanth did turn up for a stint at the National Cricket Academy gym in the evening.

The South Africans, meanwhile, are scheduled to arrive later in the night from Delhi after they went North from Hyderabad to attend a wedding. The teams will have a full-fledged nets session at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Friday, ahead of Saturday's second one-dayer.

India has played 12 games at this venue, winning eight while South Africa's lone game here against Zimbabwe in the 1993-94 season was washed out due to rains.

Meanwhile, curator Narayan Raju termed the wicket as a `typical one-day pitch, full of runs.' He also said that efforts were being taken to overcome the dew-factor.

"The umpires have said that we can use the super sopper during the innings break and during the drinks intervals, we will use nets to swing at the grass so that the dew drops drain away," Raju said.
