ERODE: The NABARD will grant Rs. 14 crores to Erode district for the formation of science laboratories and implementing development works in schools this year. Already the administrative sanction has been made for the amount, said the Education Department secretary, Girija Vaithiyanathan, here on Thursday. She was addressing a programme at Government Girls Higher Secondary School here where students were provided with free cycles. Ms. Vaithiyanathan said that the country's future lies in classrooms, so she wanted students to learn properly and develop their skills in all fields.
Efforts lauded
Lauding the district for achieving all the targets in the distribution of welfare measures and implementing Government schemes, she said the free cycles presented to Plus One and Plus Two students would provide them the necessary mobility. Ms. Vaithiyanathan said proper laboratory facilities would be made in all the schools with NABARD assistance. Distributing the cycles, the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister, P. C. Ramasamy, said that during this year 6.20 lakh cycles would be given to students. It would cost Rs. 115 crores. In Erode district alone cycles valued at Rs. 3.85 crores were distributed to students.
