Apollo care for Ayyappa devotees

In an attempt to serve the devotees of Lord Ayyappa, the Apollo Speciality Hospitals will set up its full-fledged Cardiac Centre with a seven-bedded Intensive Care Unit along with state-of-the-art telemedicine facilities, for the sixth consecutive year at Pamba near Sabarimala.

A special puja was performed at the hospital premises in Madurai before a team of medical and technical experts, paramedics and nursing staff along with support staff left for Pampa on Thursday.

The Apollo Cardiac Centre at Pampa will offer its services round-the-clock from November 18.

It would provide consultation, treatment and medicine at free of cost, besides providing ambulance facilities for the devotees, said T.N. Sekar, General Manager of the hospital.

For the past five years, the centre had saved the lives of more than 350 devotees and provided healthcare to more than 1.5 lakh devotees, he said.

Last year, it treated 400 patients a day on an average and this year the hospital expected the number to go up, Mr. Sekar said.
