NEW DELHI: Minister of State for External Affairs, E. Ahamed will travel to Pakistan to attend an international conference on Saturday to request funding for the long-term task of rehabilitating victims of the October 8 earthquake. He is scheduled to leave for Pakistan on Friday. Briefing presspersons on Thursday, the External Affairs Ministry spokesman also announced a schedule for opening the five crossing points on the Line of Control (LoC). Persons, whose names have been approved, can cross the LoC as per the agreed schedule. Relief material can also be sent across. The schedule is: Tithwal-Nauseri (Saturdays): November 19, 26 and December 3,10; Poonch-Rawalakot (Mondays): November 21, December 5; Mendhar-Tattapani (Mondays): November 28, December 12; Uri-Chakoti (Thursdays): November 17, December 1; Uri-Hajipur (Thursdays): November 24, December 8. Asked about reports in the Pakistani media that the earthquake had come as a blessing in disguise for jehadi groups, the spokesman said that India had made it clear that the entire bilateral peace process, which began with the January 6, 2004 joint statement, was based on the premise that Pakistan would not allow territory under its control to be used for terrorist activities.
