KOLKATA: Narain Karthikeyan said he was satisfied with his showing in his debut Formula 1 season. Speaking at a felicitation function, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries (Eastern Region) here on Thursday, he admitted that he made two crucial mistakes at Monaco and Canada GPs in an otherwise satisfying year. He said it was indeed tough for a rookie like him to do well in his maiden F1 season competing against highly skilled and successful drivers with years of experience. "Jordan's was pretty average car and despite that, I think, I did well in the season," he said. "But for the two mistakes I would have done much better." For Narain it was a great feeling to be a brand ambassador of the country, what with racing in 17 countries across the world. "I am happy to be in the present position. Having taken what looked like an `irrational decision' of becoming an F1 driver at the age of 14, I have done well for myself," he said. "I always had the determination and focus to succeed and followed a set of rules to achieve my goal. If you set a goal, you should go out and achieve it. That has been my policy." On his future Narain said, "I wanted to move up. Negotiations are on with a few other teams and it will be known shortly about my future plans," he said.
