KOCHI: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited outlets will display and sell coconut products such as packaged tender coconut water and chips. A pilot project has been launched at a BPCL outlet in Kochi in association with the Coconut Development Board. Talks are on to extended the project to other outlets, said T. Peethambaran, BPCL, Territory Manager, Ernakulam.
Marketing innovation
Of late, BPCL has been introducing novel marketing methods. The Coconut Development Board is also on the lookout to promote its products through various avenues. The tie-up is expected to boost the volume of trade in coconut-based products. The Board had recently launched a drive to promote products such as tender coconut water, coconut vinegar, desiccated coconut and coconut chips. An advertisement campaign has been launched to highlight the properties of the natural drink. Athlete P.T. Usha is featured in one of the advertisements. The Board has been taking steps to stress the positive aspects of coconut in the wake of apprehensions on health raised from various quarters. Oil companies have opened stores selling various consumer products at their outlets.
