Santosh Reddy against TRS meeting in Warangal

Special Correspondent

Calls it a provocative step in view of the clashes there

HYDERABAD: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLA S. Santosh Reddy has said he is against the extended general body meeting of the party at Warangal on Saturday saying it would amount to a provocative step in view of the clashes between supporters of rebel MLAs and loyalists in the town on Wednesday.

He had spoken his mind to TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao at their three-hour one-on-one meeting on Wednesday but was at a loss to understand why such a decision was finally taken.

Mr. Reddy told reporters that he had talked to Mr. Rao for so long for the first time since the fissures in the party arose which finally led to his expulsion. Mr. Rao was receptive to his idea that he give a call generously to the rebel MLAs, as in his case, to sink differences and return to the party.

He also suggested to Mr. Rao that a real initiative to break the impasse had to begin somewhere. It would be futile if both sides remained adamant.

He said he was doing his bit to put an end to the crisis in the party as an `elderly' politician. He wanted to quit politics in honour. He never wanted to split the party.
