NABARD funds to be tapped for infrastructure development

HYDERABAD:
The State Government plans to pose infrastructure part of the remote and interior areas development programme to the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) for funding.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting convened by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy with senior heads of departments on Thursday. The Government proposes to convert 3,812 villages/ habitations of remote and interior areas into model villages by ensuring holistic and integrated development.
The objective was to meet infrastructure gaps like roads, drinking water, health, education, nutrition and livelihood through an integrated approach, according to a press release.
It has been decided to submit special project for 832 villages covering 95 mandals of seven districts in the first phase. The total outlay proposed to be sought is around Rs. 360 crores and the districts are Anantapur, Guntur, Kadapa, Kurnool, Mahbubnagar, Nellore and Prakasam.
