NEW DELHI : The People's Union for Democratic Rights (PUDR) on Thursday released its findings related to the clash between workers and security guards at the Jaypee Greens Golf Course. The clash had led to the death of one security guard and grievous injuries to many workers. The report demanded that the criminal case filed against the workers be handed over to an independent investigating agency and the arrested workers released immediately. The report sought adequate compensation for the family of the security guard killed in the incident. The report also said that all those injured in the incident should be paid compensation. According to the report, on September 15, 2005, a quarrel ensued between around 80 workers and the management of the golf course when the workers rejected an offer for reinstatement of 52 workers on the condition that all pending charges against the management was dropped. In the fight that ensued one security guard died of gunshot injury and five workers were seriously injured. An FIR was registered against 250 workers under charges ranging form rioting to murder. Sixteen persons, including four schoolboys were arrested, and continue to be in jail.
