Case against DMK chief adjourned to Nov. 22

CHENNAI:
A Saidapet court on Friday adjourned to November 22, the case against former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, for allegedly outraging the religious feelings of Hindus in an article written by him.
S. Selvam, Editor of Murasoli, which carried the article, has also been cited as accused. The charge sheet has been filed for an offence under Section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the Indian Penal Code.
When the case came up before P. Mohanraj, XI Metropolitan Magistrate, Saidapet, as the XVIII Metropolitan Magistrate was on other duty, both the accused were not present. Petitions seeking to dispense with their presence were filed and allowed.
