Mumbai: Little known Shreyansh Dhaklia shocked Asian under-12 champion S.P. Sethuraman in the third round before accounting for fancied B. Adhiban to steal the show as well as take the joint lead at the end of the fourth round in the Complan National sub-junior chess championship here on Friday. At the end of round four in the 11-round Swiss League, Dhaklia and Sethuraman's Tamil Nadu mate .P Saravanakrishnan were joint top with four points. In the girls' section, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu players dominated. H. Sowmya (AP), S. Anjanaa, Pon Krittika and Laxmi Sahiti (all from TN) won all their four matches to be in joint lead. Top seed I. Ramya Krishna (3, AP), however, was saddled with draws in the last two rounds. But the day belonged to Dhaklia who scored fascinating victories over his more fancied rivals with calm assurance. The Chhattisgarh boy shocked fourth seeded Sethuraman from the black side of Caro Kann defence. The giant-slayer took his own king right across the board in the endgame to win the tie. He continued his winning run in the next round by attacking his rival Adhiban, also of Tamil Nadu, through the Ancient Italian Opening. Adhiban's central pawns were weakened and blocked his own pieces from going to the help of his own king. Dhaklia wrapped up the game with a beautiful combination. PTI
