Model tourism village now offers homestay facilities

KOCHI: The Kumbalanghi model tourism village is into another tourism season. The idyllic village on the suburbs of Kochi has carved a niche for itself as the country's first such tourism village.

The project is being implemented by the local panchayat and the public. The Union and State Governments are funding it; so is the United Nations Development Programme.

Tourism is influencing the lifestyle of the residents, increasing numbers of whom are volunteering to offer homestay facilities for visitors.
