Behrampore Member of Parliament Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was arrested from his South Avenue official residence here on Saturday by a West Bengal police team on charges of his involvement in the murder of a hotel owner and his son in July. He was taken to West Bengal on a transit remand. At 9.30 a.m., the police team raided Mr. Chowdhury's residence and arrested him. He and his wife, Arpita, have been charged with involvement in the murder of Hanief Sheikh and his son, Laltu, at Behrampore on July 24.
