Southern cattle show at Tirupati from December 1

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Southern regional cattle & buffalo and milk-yield competitions, covering Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Pondicherry, will be held at Tirupati from December 1 to 4. A large number of animals of various breeds of cattle and buffalos from these areas are expected to be brought for the event, which will also see a large gathering of scientists, livestock experts and breeders.

YSR to open show

Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy will inaugurate the show being organised at the pilgrim centre after a gap of 20 years by the State Government with Central assistance under the National Project for Cattle and Buffalo Breeding.

Apart from contests among various breeds, there will be calf rallies, exhibitions and conferences for breeders and farmers. Animal Husbandry Minister G. Surya Rao, who heads the streering committee formed for the purpose, told reporters here on Saturday that arrangements were being made at the venue to accommodate about 500 animals with feed, water and disease-control measures.
