PONDICHERRY: The Pondicherry Government has sought an assistance of Rs. 202 cr. to compensate the loss due to the recent flood. The demand for assistance was placed before the Central team, which held discussions with the administration officials, prior to their visit to the rain affected areas in Pondicherry on Saturday. Officials who held discussion with the team said 90 percent of the damage was in Karaikal and the agriculture sector had been severely affected. The team, led by D. S. Mishra, Joint Secretary Ministry of Home Affairs, visited Krishna Nagar, Mahathma Nagar, Thendral Nagar, Bommianpet, Selipet and Ousteri, and received petitions.
