COIMBATORE: Apart from the proposed software park here by the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu, for which work is progressing fast, private initiatives in similar ventures during the last few months have given the city confidence that it will see more IT companies opening shop.

ETL Infrastructure Services Limited, a company promoted by the Elnet Technologies Limited and the Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Limited, plans a software park with world-class facilities. Works have commenced on the project and the first phase is expected to be completed by September 2006.

According to S. Thiagarajan, president of the ETL Infrastructure Services, the park will come up on 14 acres located about 50 metres off Avinashi Road in the heart of the city.

Environment-friendly

In the first phase, eight lakh sq.ft will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 140 crores. "It will be an intelligent building," and will be environment-friendly too. It will have business and training centres, food court and car parking facilities.

Another eight lakh sq.ft will be constructed in the second phase.

With a lot of IT companies evincing interest in Coimbatore and with the enquiries generated, Mr. Thiagarajan is confident about occupancy at the park.

"I do not expect renting out space to be a problem," he says.
