Sanathnagar garden in bad shape The road leading to the industrial units in Sanathnagar Industrial Estate, particularly on the eastern side of the garden, is in bad shape. Funds were released by the MCH for development of the garden two-and-a-half years ago. But the work has not been completed till date. The area is being used as public toilet which is causing inconvenience to the morning walkers and visitors coming to the Post Office and Banks located in the area. We request the MCH to kindly repair the roads and develop the gardens in the Industrial Estate immediately.
G. Hanumantha Rao,
Extend emergency services to mobiles Apropos the report "Dial 100 and keep your fingers crossed" ( The Hindu , November 6). You have rightly highlighted the unavailability of dialling emergency services in mobile phones. I request all cellular service providers to immediately provide access to emergency numbers relating health, crime and fire services to all mobile users.
M. Pradeep Kumar,
Install signal posts at zebra crossings Though signal lights have been installed for regulating vehicular traffic in most of the major areas in the city, there are no signal posts at zebra crossings to facilitate road crossing. I request the authorities to install signal posts on either sides of the zebra crossings so that pedestrians could cross the roads freely. I hope the authorities will take swift action.
P. Krishnaswami Iyengar ,
Relocate vehicle repairing centres Your tell-tale photograph on traffic chaos ( The Hindu November 6) reflects the real condition of the city's traffic. One feels that by insisting one side parking, strict following of lane system, imposing speed limit and cracking down on traffic violators can mitigate the present confusion on the roads. Even by relocating repairing centres of two wheelers and banning heavy vehicles on certain roads -- for instance on the road from Ayodhya crossroads to Bazar Ghat and Ek Minar -- will ease traffic congestion.
J. S. Sarma,
Pensioners' woes The staff of the APPOs of Chandrayanagutta and Motigalli are demanding money for annual verification certificates of the pensioners. They are not accepting forms of those who are not in a position to oblige them and are making them stand for hours together. Majority of the pensioners are old, sick and weak. They are feeling much inconvenience and are helpless. I request the authorities to take stern steps against such corrupt employees and save the pensioners from hardships.
Ghouse Mohuiddin,
