CHENNAI: A fancy dress competition for children, cultural programme and honouring of three eminent persons from Karnataka for professional excellence marked the Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations here on Sunday. The honour, comprising a citation and shawl, was bestowed on Shathavadhani R. Ganesh for his contribution to literature; B. Suresh Kamath of Lasersoft Limited (industry and social service); and G. Gayathri, vocalist. Awards were also presented to students who got the top scores in the Kannada language examination at the State level. The function, organised by various bodies engaged in promoting Kannada language and culture such as the Karnataka Sangha and Kannada Cultural Association of IIT, was addressed by A. Ramadas, president of the Tamil Nadu Hoteliers Association, K.V. Acharya, general secretary of the Indian Overseas Bank Officers Association and K.P. Acharya, president of the Karnataka Rajyotsava Samithi.
