CHENNAI: The National Commission for Religious and Linguistic Minorities on Monday began discussions with State Ministers and officials. According to official sources, Commission Member-Secretary Asha Das and Member Anil Wilson interacted with Health Minister Thalavai Sundaram; Social Welfare Minister Vijayalakshmi Palanisamy; Minister for Adi Dravidar Welfare C. Karuppusamy; Minister for Backward Classes and Most Backward Classes S.M. Velusamy; Labour Minister P. Annavi and Education Minister C.V. Shanmugam. They also held discussions among others with Bader Sayeed, chairperson, Tamil Nadu Wakf Board and Pavan Raina, Principal Secretary (Home). The Commission members are scheduled to meet leaders of religious and linguistic minorities, heads of academies, representatives of non-Governmental organisations and members of the public on Tuesday. Discussions will be held with select groups of women belonging to linguistic and religious minorities, social scientists, academicians, researchers, legal experts and intellectuals, the sources said.
