"We are ready to face the winter"

NEW DELHI: The Centre and the Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday announced a two-pronged strategy to rehabilitate the victims of the October 8 earthquake.

After meeting Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said the first phase of the programme would ensure the construction of temporary shelters. "About 60 per cent of the affected population will be shifted to these temporary shelters," Mr. Azad said.
