P.K.Warrier was humble when the Rotary Club of Cochin East here conferred on him the highest award. He said that he was lucky to inherit a long tradition the tradition of Ayurveda enunciated by the great seers from time immemorial. It was also a tradition of the Arya Vaidya Sala expounded by his illustrious uncle Vaidyaratnam P.S. Warrier of Kottakkal. "When I was chosen to head the institution, my primary duty was to uphold that tradition. I became the guardian of a great establishment. I accepted it with the mind of a gardener. The duty of the gardener is to provide everything for the nourishment and safe upkeep of the garden. He feels joy when a new sprout comes up. He feels excited when the fragrance from the flowers fills the atmosphere. However, the gardener should not claim the garden for himself. He is only the protector, not the owner. His responsibility is to protect, promote and preserve what is given to him. This is the greatest philosophy our sages have expounded,'' he said.
