KOCHI: It was a day to remember for the 2,000-odd schoolchildren who participated in a march for awareness against AIDS. Ms. Universe Natalie Glebova led the march. Students in uniform held placards with AIDS awareness messages on them. Sporting a white T-shirt and jeans, Ms. Glebova climbed up a vehicle that accompanied her to wave to the students. An entourage of international and Indian models accompanied the Ms. Universe for the event, organised by the Cochin Gymkhana Club. Designer Sanjana Jon, who plans to start a fashion wear label in Kochi, also took part in the march. The private bus strike came as a blow for the organisers as many schoolchildren could not make it to the event. Nearly 16 city schools and organisations such as the Indian Customs and various sports organisations took part. The march was taken out from the Vyttila junction to around 500 metres down the National Highway bypass towards Alappuzha. Later, Ms. Glebova interacted with students at Toc-H School in an informal gathering.
