In recognition of the service of Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre, the Rotary Club honoured N. Panchavarnam, project director and plastic surgeon, the Smile Train Cleft Lip/Palate Centre, MMHRC, with vocational excellence award at a function held here on Friday. Dr. Panchavarnam performed surgeries with the assistance of the Smile Train USA and the hospital provides counselling, food, accommodation for patients and patient attendees during hospitalisation of patients, medicine, bed surgery etc at free of cost. The team of MMHRC visits remote villages and educates the affected and their parents and conduct health camps and mobilises people in collaboration with Government departments and district authorities.
